Despite vowing to not make an alliance with the “extremist” far-left, French President Emmanuel Macron is now set to do just that in order to block Marine Le Pen’s National Rally from securing an absolute parliamentary majority.
The anti-mass migration party won a third of all votes in the first round of voting, beating both Macron’s establishment centrist movement and the far-left New Popular Front.
The result gave them an outside chance of securing the 289 seats required to form an absolute majority in Parliament and be in a position to enact important policies. I do not understand what Macron’s idiocy is about.
This is exactly what he did before to try to stop the National Rally party before in this exact same way last time around. Yet it STILL ended up here. He is wasting his time and the French people’s time as well. This movement is not going away, and wasn’t just a quick boom and done.
You may as well just concede now Macron, it is obvious the their side has the real support, yours does not, and squeezing onto power will just wreck your own country even further than it has because you did this the last time.
I think its time you let go of the power before it gets pried out of your hands.
