The old talking point was to claim the growing emergency situation at the border was a “manufactured crisis.” Democrats across the board echoed those words for months before, during, and especially after the government shutdown that spread across last December into January. But as more Americans are waking up to the reality that the crisis was not manufactured and is, indeed, a real crisis, Democrats have begun spinning their old lies into a different type of attack on the President.
Now, they’re trying to say the claims of “manufactured crisis” were actually condemnations on the President’s policies that they believed made the situation worse.
This, folks, is a lie.
They’re making a 1984-like claim now, saying they believe there’s a crisis at the border and they’ve always believed there was a crisis at the border. And their mainstream media puppets are going along with it.
But not all of them.
The Hill, which has over 50 million visitors per month, is left-leaning but with some unbiased reporters and even a few conservatives. Reporter Alexander Bolton told it like it is in his recent post:
After Trump issued an Oval Office address to the nation on Jan. 8 proclaiming the border situation a “crisis of the heart and a crisis of the soul,” Schumer and Pelosi gave a side-by-side rebuttal.
“This president just used the backdrop of the Oval Office to manufacture a crisis, stoke fear and divert attention from the turmoil in his administration,” Schumer said in the midst of a 35-day government shutdown sparked by a partisan disagreement over funding border barriers.
Other Democrats made similar dismissals.
“The President has manufactured a humanitarian crisis. It is solely Trump’s fault NOT the Democrats,” House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) tweeted.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a leading contender for the Democratic presidential nomination, admonished Trump in a video statement: “Mr. President, we don’t need to create artificial crises. We have enough real ones.”
The only way Democrats can squirm out of this one is if the American people are stupid. They hope we’re stupid. They’re banking on it.
