Look at just about every political story of the day. You’ll see the same tomorrow. By Monday, it will shift a bit, but the general theme will be the same. The Democrats are going to win the House of Representatives, so there’s no reason for Republicans, right-leaning Independents, or Trump supporters of any party to go out and vote to keep his agenda rolling.
That’s the incessant message being sent right now through nearly every major news outlet. Just as they did in 2016, mainstream media is building a narrative that the race is already over so anyone voting for Republican House candidates might as well stay home.
In journalism (and basketball) it’s called a full court press. They know the pressure is on Republican candidates to break through their defenses and get out the vote, so they’re applying pressure from every angle to keep them home.
Don’t stay home. Don’t buy the media’s narrative.
If Republicans were smart, that’s exactly what they’d say. President Trump would put out a contradictory 30-second message that would get blasted out to every person in every district where the race is competitive. It would sound like this:
Friends, in 2016 the Democrats and their cronies in the media did everything they could to convince you that the fight was over, we’d already lost, and there was no reason to get out the vote. They’re doing the same thing today with the House of Representatives. You have two choices. You can believe the fake news media and stay home, or you can believe me and vote. Get your friends and family to vote. We will keep America great by keeping Nancy Pelosi out of the Speaker’s chair. Your vote on Tuesday counts.
Polls are favorable to Democratic Congressional candidates just as they were favorable for Hillary Clinton and Democratic Senate candidates in 2016. In fact, they were more favorable in 2016 which is why it came as such a shock when they didn’t win the Senate or the White House.
We’ve learned time and time again in recent years that polls do not equate to votes. Republicans generally outperform them because when it comes time to actually get out and submit a ballot, Republican voters are simply less lazy. The only thing that keeps them home is lost hope which is why the media is so bent on making them give up.
Republicans have the same opportunity they had in 2016. They can prove neither mainstream media nor the Democrats nor worthless polls can keep them at home. If that happens, the GOP will retain control of the House of Representatives.
