NATO on Wednesday touted its continued support for Ukraine. The NATO Comprehensive Assistance Package (CAP) includes non-lethal and strategic assistance for the embattled nation.
CAP provides Ukraine with short- and medium-term non-lethal assistance like “fuel, medical supplies, winter clothing, generators and communication systems.”
CAP also includes support for “long-term projects for recovery and reconstruction, institutional transformation, and transition towards NATO interoperability.”
These long-term projects encompass military analytics, interoperability, and defense procurement.The Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre, based in Poland, “will identify and apply lessons learned from Russia’s war against Ukraine and contribute to NATO’s deterrence and defence and increase interoperability between Allied and Ukrainian forces.”The interoperability effort “integrates interoperability requirements into Ukraine’s long-term capability development plans.”Defense procurement will focus on “help[ing] Ukraine improve its defence procurement system and promote greater effectiveness, accountability, and transparency, further advancing Ukraine’s integration with NATO.”
