A prominent university hosted a project spearheaded by their own professor to create “ police-free futures ” during a time when the school has been plagued by violence and sexual crimes on campus.
The Daily Caller reported Monday that the University of Michigan Campus Abolition Research Lab launched the #PoliceFreeCampus project, with the hopes of having a police-free future on campus.
The Scholars for Black Lives collective first started #PoliceFreeCampus as a “national call to action for colleges and universities to divest from the institution of policing in exchange for improving campus and community safety through investing in humanizing resources and supports to address issues of harm and accountability,” the project’s website noted.
