At least 16 people are dead and up to 50 injured after a gunman armed with a semi-automatic rifle opened fire at three locations in Lewiston, Maine, including a bowling alley crowded with families and children.
The suspect, who is still at large, is a 40-year-old firearms instructor stationed in Saco, Maine with the Army Reserve. CBS reports that he “had been committed to a mental health facility for two weeks in the summer of 2023,” and an official report said he “had reported ‘hearing voices and threats to shoot up’ the military base.”
