Sen. Tommy Tuberville A pair of Senate Republicans introduced legislation on Tuesday to remove “woke requirements” from a $52.7 billion bill signed into law by President Joe Biden in 2022 that sought to subsidize the domestic semiconductor industry, create more STEM jobs, and boost research in new technologies.
The new offering from Sens. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) and Mike Lee (R-UT) would repeal various programs and positions from the CHIPs and Science Act that embrace tenets of DEI . It also aims to place limits on mandates imposed on entities seeking federal funds related to policies on diversity, mitigating climate change, environmental justice, community investment, and others.
