In new legislation that passed the assembly and is likely to pass the senate, California is banning a particular food additive found in many foods, including Skittles, effectively banning the wonderful fruity candy from the state. The bill would prohibit the manufacture, sale or distribution of products containing red dye No. 3, titanium dioxide, potassium bromate, brominated vegetable oil or propyl paraben in the Golden State. That dadgum Red Dye No. 3, the one that makes crunchy moms think their kids are misbehaving, is now going to be banned in California.
