On April 28, 29-year-old Lauren Heike went out for some exercise at a hiking trail near the border between Scottsdale and Phoenix. At some point, a man approached her from behind and violently attacked her. Reports indicate that Heike was stabbed at least 15 times and that she had defensive wounds on her hands and arms, though evidence indicates that she was not sexually assaulted.
