The Washington Post has lost massive amounts of subscribers between the years 2021 and 2024, according to reports.
According to data given to Semafor , the Post went from having 22.5 million daily users in January of 2021 to 2.5-3 million frequent users mid-2024.
The outlet had gotten a lot of backlash after owner Jeff Bezos said that the newspaper would not make an endorsement of either candidate during the most recent election.
Many former subscribers canceled their subscriptions after Vice President Kamala Harris didn’t get the Post’s endorsement.It was reported by other outlets that the Post had stopped sharing its web traffic data online after there was a 60% drop in traffic.The outlet’s revenue also went from $190 million in 2023 to $174 million in 2024, the Wall Street Journal reported.
