The spin-off dubbed the “gayest Star Wars ever” will not be returning for season 2. The Acolyte, from showrunner Leslye Headland, has been canceled.
“The Acolyte” will not return for Season 2,” Variety reports. “Lucasfilm has elected not to continue with the ‘Star Wars’ series following its first season, which depicted the rise of the Sith roughly 100 years before the events of ‘Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.'”
The show featured the first instance of trans pronouns in the Star Wars universe and while it had an 83 percent average among critics on Rotten Tomatoes, viewers only have it a 14 percent.
