New York City Mayor Eric Adams spoke to press on Tuesday, and detailed the response from the New York City Department of Corrections should Donald Trump be ordered to jail on Rikers Island.
“Our amazing commissioner,” Adams began, “is prepared for whatever comes on Rikers Island,” Adams told the media when asked about the potentiality by press. Judge Juan Merchan has already found Trump in contempt of court over gag order violations and has fined Trump $1,000 per offense. He has threatened Trump with jail time should there be more alleged violations.
“I’m pretty sure [the Department of Corrections commissioner] would be prepared to manage and deal with the situation,” Adams continued. “As you see what’s happening with Harvey Weinstein, we have to adjust, you know, in this business, particularly around law enforcement, we have to adjust whatever comes our way.”
