When does life begin? At conception? When there’s a heartbeat? After birth? Different people have different answers, with the right generally leaning at least somewhat toward the conception or heartbeat approach.

Everyone has an answer. Perhaps the answer isn’t popular, or at least isn’t popular to some people, but everyone thinks life begins at some point.
Well, everyone except Kentaji Brown Jackson, apparently. She said “ Senator… um… I don’t… know ,” and then started laughing awkwardly. Perhaps Kamala coached her on how to respond with a deeply uncomfortable cackle.

The notion that human beings have rights is itself founded on belief. The notion that human beings have those rights equally is itself founded on belief. I listened to some of the hearing on the radio in which she, herself, reiterated the fact that our laws, and the ethics on which they’re based, are ultimately founded on belief, and later reiterated the fact that our judicial system is only as good as the people believe it to be – that respect is the only measure of enforcement the judicial branch has.
So make up your mind. You can believe we all have God-given rights, and you can believe we all have them equally, but belief about when we’re given those rights, whether at conception or sometime later, must remain separate? How does that make any sense?
