Heather Higgins knows all about being vilified as a conservative woman. As CEO of Independent Women’s Voice and chairman of its sister organization, Independent Women’s Forum, she’s been forced to live under the scrutiny of leftist mainstream media for years. Why? Because women are supposed to be progressive, pro-choice, and anti-conservative. If not, they’re an anomaly.
There are three techniques the media uses to prevent conservative women from having a voice. First, they use omission. By pretending like conservative women aren’t important or don’t exist, they keep their progressive icons front-and-center. Second, they use mocking. It’s sad that the side that allegedly fights misogyny is the one that so deftly uses it against conservative women. Third, they use labeling. If there’s one thing the left has mastered, it’s their ability to diminish conservative women by giving them stereotypical labels instead of acknowledging they have ideas of their own.
These challenges are common for any conservative woman who reaches a state of prominence. But as Higgins notes in this PragerU video, swimming upstream makes you stronger.
As conservative women fight to make their voices heard despite progressive groups belittling them, it’s imperative that we all support each other. We cannot succumb to the left’s silencing tactics.
