And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. – Zechariah 12:10
This is a verse that many Christians point to as further evidence that Jesus was prophesied in the Old Testament, but it’s much more important than that. It’s a promise of a time that has not happened yet when the house of David, the nation of Israel, sees Yeshua as their Messiah and mourns for him and for generations that did not believe in the past. They will recognize Him for what He is and they will finally worship him as their Christ.
