Facilities used to house apprehended illegal immigrants have been so full due to the surge of border crossings in recent weeks, border patrol has no option but to release them directly to the streets of Yuma, Arizona.
Border Patrol begins releasing migrant families on the streets of Yuma
U.S. Border Patrol officials in Arizona said they have started releasing migrant families from their custody into the streets of Yuma because processing centers can’t cope with the large numbers of arriving families and minors.
Community groups in the Yuma area have set up temporary facilities to house the families and to provide food and shelter while they assist migrants with travel plans to leave the border city.
The Border Patrol issued a statement Thursday announcing its decision, which followed the lead of officials in the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas, who last week began releasing families from their custody.
Opinion
This problem could be seen a mile away, but there was so much attention being paid to the wall (I’m guilty of this) we didn’t take into account the immediate needs of border patrol to be able to handle this surge. It’s not like we didn’t see the surge coming. But we thought the wall would solve most of the problems.
Now, it’s too late. The wall can’t solve this particular set of problems even if Congress gave the President $25 billion immediately, no strings attached. We’re in a position where we need triage-level legislation. The funny part is the President could declare a national emergency at the border to redirect funds towards border patrol’s needs and it would have a very hard time getting shot down politically or legally. The evidence is too clear. Any judge who struck it down would be stretching into the deepest realms of hyper-leftism just to make a bad case, let alone a valid one.
Imagine living in Yuma, seeing thousands of people who are being released immediately after being apprehended, and there’s nothing that can be done to stop it. Charitable organizations have no available space or resources either. Instead, we have people with no place to go, no ability to earn a living, and plenty of mouths to feed. There is no scenario where this ends well unless something is done about it immediately.
Quote
“The sheer volume of family units (FAMU) crossing the border has overwhelmed ICE’s limited transportation resources. Combined with a requirement to detain these individuals for no more than 20 days, the agency has no option but to expeditiously arrange for their release.” – ICE spokeswoman Yasmeen Pitts O’Keefe
Final Thoughts
This is an emergency. We can’t wait around for the wall. Something needs to be done about this immediately or the damage done to the interior of the country by this surge is only going to escalate.
Will you help revive the American Conservative Movement?
Covid variant BA.5 is spreading. It appears milder but much more contagious and evades natural immunity. Best to boost your immune system with new Z-Dtox and Z-Stack nutraceuticals from our dear friend, the late Dr. Vladimir Zelenko.
yes the comment that something needs to be done before a wall can be built is the correct position but will president trump close the entire border? he doesn’t seem willing to do that in my view. the pressure from the GOPelite is tremendously negative.
Agreed. They’re getting it from both sides, too.
