Most Americans know there are problems at the southern border. Even the ones who claim there’s no problem actually know there’s a problem, but their leftist ideology won’t permit them to admit it. This isn’t knew. It’s just more pronounced now thanks to the extreme divide between supporters and detractors of President Trump. The left wants so badly for the President to be wrong, they’re willing to deny reality rather than acknowledge anything he says is true.
But it’s not just about building a border wall, thought that’s a major issue. There are legislative issues that have created gaping loopholes through which illegal immigrants are able to stay in the country indefinitely. Lack of resources make it harder for border patrol to capture the bad guys crossing over since they’re spread so thin trying to keep up with the illegal immigrants who willfully turn themselves in. The same lack of resources makes it impossible to keep those who are captured; hundreds of thousands are released to the interior and told to come to a hearing months or even years in the future, which many do not.

They’re not happy, as is made clear by the interviews and facts surrounding our problems at the border. When the border patrol agents say the problem is too big for them to handle, what gives Washington DC the feeling they somehow know better?
Border Patrol: 25,000 Illegal Aliens Evaded Capture in Southeast Texas
Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost said the outdated laws that need updating are the Flores Settlement Agreement and the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA).
“The fact that we cannot detain is creating a pull factor,” Provost said on March 20. She said the large numbers of family units crossing illegally are driving the humanitarian crisis.
“It’s a humanitarian crisis and then, therefore, that humanitarian crisis is impacting border security, too. So it’s creating a border security crisis because all my men and women are spending their time caring for the individuals that are in our custody,” she said. “It pulls them away from the border security mission. We don’t have enough resources to deal with both.”
This isn’t just a partisan issue. We can’t assume the Democrats are blocking everything. Republicans must be told we’re unhappy with the spike in illegal immigration that happened on their watch. This must become DC’s priority immediately or our sovereignty will be forever lost. Build the wall, change the laws, empower border patrol, and let’s save our nation.
