Conservatism has come in many forms over the decades. It seems to be evolving, just as any political ideology does, around changes in the world that make older methodologies impossible. For example, it’s futile to try to save jobs of certain types of factory workers as conservatives have done in the past because technological advancements are making it cheaper and more efficient to use robotics to fulfill the roles that humans once played.
With every advancement that changes the workplace, new jobs are necessary. The person who once hand-assembled pumps at the factory may now be needed to oversee machines that are now assembling these pumps.
But this is just one part of the political and technological evolution we’re seeing in America and around the world. It’s happening in markets, with trade agreements, education, and just about every facet of life that seems bent on embracing a globalist mindset. Therein lies the real problem. How do we balance the necessity of participating within a global market with the driving force that only comes from nationalist principles?
We’re on a slippery slope. Just as conservatives can no longer fight every aspect of globalism without dooming the nation as a pariah on the global market, so too must progressives not embrace every aspect of globalism that will wipe away our sovereignty and remove all the things that make America exceptional.
This video from PragerU isn’t perfect. A five-minute monologue isn’t enough to break down one of these complex issues, let alone all of them. But former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper does a nice job of encapsulating our challenges today.
What Harper describes as “populist conservatism” is what drove President Trump to victory. It may be the key to winning him a second term if conservatives can fight the onslaught of progressive ideologies that threaten to take America down a dark path.

When I left my cushy corporate job in 2017, I did so knowing that my family would have to make sacrifices. But I couldn’t continue to watch the nation slip into oblivion and was inspired by President Trump’s willingness to fight the good fight even at his own personal expense. What I didn’t realize then is that conservative media would be so heavily attacked, canceled, and defunded that the sacrifices would be extreme.
Many in this nation are struggling right now even though we weren’t struggling just a few years ago. I’m not alone. But I wake up every morning and operate the sites we’ve been able to build because there’s really no other choice. I refuse to be beholden to Big Tech like so many other conservative news outlets, which is why you won’t see Google ads here. With that said, it’s often challenging to pay the bills and it’s even harder to expand so we can get the America First message out to a wider audience.
