Ultimately, it was Bill Kristol's inability to see the truth that doomed the Weekly Standard

Neoconservative journalist Bill Kristol has a history of being wrong. It isn’t that he’s not intelligent. In fact, he’s brilliant. But his inability to assess situations and see the writing on the wall is what doomed the Weekly Standard, the publication that he founded.

Reports are coming in that the Weekly Standard will likely shut down soon.

Kristol’s heart was usually int he right place. He sees the world through the eyes of someone that wants American exceptionalism to spread. He believes American can be made greater by positioning itself as the world leader in pretty much every situation. He’s never seen a foreign event he didn’t want the United States to engage with in one way or another.

He’s a neocon in a world where conservatives are growing more nationalistic. His interventionist ideology doesn’t fit with enough of the population.

There’s also the fact that many of his predictions have been spectacularly wrong, such as the time when he said, “Barack Obama is not going to beat Hillary Clinton in a single Democratic primary. I’ll predict that right now.”

Or the time when he declared, “We can remove Saddam because that could start a chain reaction in the Arab world that would be very healthy.”

Perhaps the biggest mistake he made in his rhetoric was undying support for the Iraq War which, today, is seen by a strong majority as a big mistake.

“If we free the people of Iraq, we will be respected in the Arab world… and I think we will be respected around the world.”

Then again, we could also point to his continued opposition to President Trump. From the moment he announced his candidacy until today, he has tried to paint the President as a failure who doesn’t belong in the White House. He may be right, but when your audience in the Republican Party overwhelmingly supports the President, it’s better to be fair than overtly against everything the President says and does.

It’s a shame to see the Weekly Standard go. We need voices in the conversation even if we don’t always agree with them.

Conservative Media we need to blacklist Trump-Russia story and move on

To The Daily Wire, One America News, Washington Times, Blaze Media, and all others to the right of Fox News,

There was no collusion and no obstruction. It took over two years for this narrative to search under every stone and exhaust millions of dollars to, in the end, find nothing. The leftist media will not make many concessions, especially as it relates to obstruction for a crime that was not committed. We cannot as conservatives prove beyond an unreasonable doubt that Trump did not collude or obstruct. As Democrats in Congress keep the narrative on life support, the Conservative media needs to pull the plug.

The average American is fatigued by the Trump-Russia collusion/obstruction narrative. Meanwhile our effort is playing defense against a leftist narrative rather than reporting on issues both our base and the politically uninvolved care far more about. When the economy is strong and the border crisis is pressing, why is so much of our attention directed towards the soap opera clown show that takes place? Instead of countering this narrative, conservative media should starve the narrative of as much attention as possible.

An area which Conservatives have long failed, but have made great improvements towards, is controlling the narrative, the language and Overton Window of society. If we continue to counter the leftist narrative of the Trump-Russia conspiracy theory, we will continue to feed their power in controlling the narrative in the American political and cultural arena. Instead, let us make an effort to not only counter the narrative but set the narrative.

In our friendly rivalry as Conservative outlets, let us come together and collectively move on from the Trump-Russia story, discarding it as if it were a flat-earth conspiracy and move on.

Cory Booker in the aggregate: Propagating the ’mass shooting every day’ deception

Cory Booker In the aggregate Propagating the mass shooting every day deception

Witness the formation of a false talking point by continual repetition.

Presidential candidate Cory Booker et al. has repeated the same line of ‘a mass shooting every day, in the aggregate’ for the past few weeks in various town halls and interviews. Like most Leftist talking points, this absurd assertion has been carefully constructed to foment a pithy little saying unmoored from reality. The fact is, the Liberty grabber Left exploites every mass shooting to maximum effect, to the point that they have begun to regularly use ‘anniversaries’ of these tragedies to push for more controls over our freedom.  Even in this case, it has it’s own escape clause of ‘in the aggregate’ if anyone is ever called on this deception..

Just for reference, this is the Oxford English dictionary entry for the phrase ‘in (the) aggregate’

In total; as a whole.

Again, even here reality isn’t too kind to the Left. The fact is, there hasn’t been a ‘mass shootings in the aggregate every day.’ Or ‘mass shootings In total every day.’ As in this video at the 5:10 mark.

This is as yet another case where the Left doesn’t care about the truth of the matter, only the setting of a certain perception in the public consciousness. It doesn’t matter that each and every mass shooting is exploited from beginning to end. Or that even the hint of one taking place will see news bulletins instantly going out over the wire.

That plain fact doesn’t stop Leftists from trying to promulgate the false perception of gun violence being an overwhelming ‘epidemic’ that demands the immediate implementation of drastic measures.

Repeating a lie doesn’t make it true.

Despite the admonitions from infamous Leftists Adolph Hitler and Vladimir Lenin, repeating a lie doesn’t make it the truth, but it is part and parcel for Leftists to traffic in lies. The fact is, mass shootings are rare, no matter what kind of creativity in defining these distinctive events to include just about anything imaginable.

The plain fact is that Leftists need ‘serious crisis’ in order to ratchet down our Liberty. When reality fails to meet their needs, they just make up their own ‘in the aggregate’. Never mind that there aren’t mass shootings every day, the national socialist Left would like that to be the perception so they can push their gun confiscation agenda. They push the ‘gun violence is a unique problem in the states’ even though other nations are far more violent, but as they drift further and further into insanity their grip on reality has become that much more tenuous.

Here are 8 stubborn facts on gun violence in America from the Heritage Foundation

Here are 8 stubborn facts on gun violence in America from the Heritage Foundation

These are 8 facts that eviscerate the usual Leftist mendacity on the common sense human right of self-defense.

The Heritage Foundation recently produced a well-sourced list of 8 facts on gun violence that will serve to demolish the usual lies promulgated by the Liberty grabber Left in trying to deprive the people of their basic human right of self-defence.

This is an excerpt of the list with a few pertinent facts and links for each, follow this link to obtain the full story.

Are there ways to reduce gun violence and school shootings? Yes, but only after objectively assessing the facts and working collaboratively to fashion commonsense solutions.

1. Violent crime is down and has been on the decline for decades.
According to the National Crime Victimization Survey, violent crime has been declining steadily since the early 1990s.
The 2011 homicide rate was almost half https://www.cnn.com/2013/05/08/us/study-gun-homicide/index.html of the rate in 1991, and according to the Pew Research Center, the 2013 gun-related death rate was half of the rate in 1993.

2. The principal public safety concerns with respect to guns are suicides and illegally owned handguns, not mass shootings.

According to the Pew Research Center, almost two-thirds of America’s annual gun deaths are suicides. Since 1981, when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention began publishing data, gun suicides have outnumbered gun homicides. In 2010 alone, 19,392 Americans used guns to kill themselves.

Most gun-related crimes are carried out with illegally owned firearms —as much as 80 percent according to some estimates.

3. A small number of factors significantly increase the likelihood that a person will be a victim of a gun-related homicide.

4. Gun-related murders are carried out by a predictable pool of people.

5. Higher rates of gun ownership are not associated with higher rates of violent crime.

Higher rates of concealed carry permit holders are even more strongly associated with reduction in violent crime than are right-to-carry states. The probable reason for this is that right-to-carry studies often include “open carry” states, which have not been shown to correlate with more people actually carrying or even owning firearms. Rates of concealed carry permit holders are better indicators of the number of people who actually possess and carry firearms within a given population.

6. There is no clear relationship between strict gun control legislation and homicide or violent crime rates.

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence ironically makes this clear with its ratings for states based on gun laws. “Gun freedom” states that score poorly, like New Hampshire, Vermont, Idaho, and Oregon, have some of the lowest homicide rates. Conversely, “gun control-loving” states that received high scores, like Maryland and Illinois, experience some of the nation’s highest homicide rates.

Great Britain has some of the strictest gun control laws in the developed world, but the violent crime rate for homicide, rape, burglary, and aggravated assault is much higher than that in the U.S.

7. Legally owned firearms are used for lawful purposes much more often than they are used to commit crimes or suicide.

In 2013, President Barack Obama ordered the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to assess existing research on gun violence. The report, compiled by the Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council, found (among other things) that firearms are used defensively hundreds of thousands of times every year.

According to the CDC, “self-defense can be an important crime deterrent.” Recent CDC reports acknowledge that studies directly assessing the effect of actual defensive uses of guns have found “consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies.”

AR-15s have been used to save lives on many occasions

8. Concealed carry permit holders are not the problem, but they may be part of the solution.

Regression estimates show a significant association between increased permit ownership and a drop in murder and violent crime rates. Each percentage point increase in rates of permit-holding is associated with a roughly 2.5 percent drop in the murder rate.

Concealed carry permit holders are often “the good guy with a gun,” even though they rarely receive the attention of the national media. Concealed carry permit holders were credited with saving multiple lives

Our Take.

The Left’s socialist national agenda is a house of cards based on a foundation of lies and false presumptions. Their incessant obsession with depriving the people of the right of self-defense is no exception. This is why the work of the Heritage foundation and others is so important in pulling together these facts to instantly counter Leftist FEELings – Frequently Encountered Emotional Lies. Please be sure to bookmark these facts for future use in the defense of Liberty. We can be assured that they will be needed at everyone’s fingertips for the near future.
