I’m not a fan of The View or SNL. I only catch the occasional clip when they do something controversial. This is a case where one controversial joke on SNL sparked a controversial response by The View‘s Joy Behar, so I had to pull double duty.
The background: On SNL, Pete Davidson made a crude joke about Republican congressional candidate and former Navy SEAL Dan Crenshaw. The soldier lost his right eye from an IED explosion. Davidson has been hearing a ton of backlash from both sides.
Most on The View condemned him for it, but Behar summed up her point in two sentences.
“He has a right to do it,” she shrugged. “You have a right to speak out against it.”
She’s absolutely correct. And SNL has the right to firing him for it. And viewers have the right to stop watching the show. This is a free country and even tasteless jokes are protected as long as they do not cause real harm.
I may not like her, but it’s good to hear anyone in Hollywood admit that people have rights to say pretty much whatever they want. Now, if she applies that in defense of a conservative saying things, I’d be very impressed.
Covid variant BA.5 is spreading. It appears milder but much more contagious and evades natural immunity. Best to boost your immune system with new Z-Dtox and Z-Stack nutraceuticals from our dear friend, the late Dr. Vladimir Zelenko.
