Brian Fitzpatrick remembers who he represents

Brian Fitzpatrick remembers who he represents

It shouldn’t need to be reminded to politicians. For some reason, many get to Washington DC and forget why they were put there in the first place. They forget the people they’re supposed to represent. They forget the issues that hit close to home. They become part of the DC Country Club and they never look back… until campaign time comes around again.

Brian Fitzpatrick is different. He’s a Representative for the people of Pennsylvania’s 1st congressional district. Below is a quote you might hear from a lot of politicians around this time with the midterm elections around the corner, but we heard it from Fitzpatrick over a year ago in July, 2017. That’s what we need more of in DC. It’s what Pennsylvania needs now.

Our job, first and foremost, is to keep an open mind and listen to the concerns of constituents. Calls, letters, e-mails, in-person office visits — they all matter.

Kevin McAleenan denies leaking ICE raid details to press

Kevin McAleenan denies leaking ICE raid details to press

Ever since the Washington Post released information about the canceled ICE raids last week, including details of the 10 cities that would be raided and the day of the raid, speculation has been rampant that someone leaked the information to prevent them from happening. Considering the small number of people with the information that was leaked, five current and former White House officials pointed their fingers at acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan.

Acting Homeland Security chief denies leaking info on ICE raids: ‘It’s just not true’

McAleenan has allegedly been opposed to ICE raids for several months, according to the anonymous sources. But he went on Fox News with Laura Ingraham to set the record straight.

McAleenan was accused last week of leaking plans for raids scheduled by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a unit of the DHS, after supposedly expressing fierce opposition to the plan and allegedly ordering top officials to “stand down” on the operation.

The source also said Homeland Security officials had been planning the raids since April and that McAleenan had been opposed to the plans from the start.

McAleenan also denied that anyone in his office leaked the information after host Laura Ingraham pressed further, saying that as the operation date nears “you have to push information out into the field.”

“So tonight you’re saying these rumors are wrong false and you did not do that?” Ingraham asked.

“Absolutely not,” McAleenan responded.

I tend to believe him. At this point, we have no reason to doubt his word other than anonymous sources. And it may be compelling that he donated to Democrats in the past, but if he says he didn’t leak, we should accept it. For now.

Joy Villa on being called the ‘N-word’

Joy Villa on being called the 'N-word'

“The only time I’ve ever been called the N-word derogatorily is from other people of color or White liberals.”

– Joy Villa

Joy Villa made a huge splash when she came out as a Trump supporter. She’s an African-America in the entertainment industry, making her a rare conservative demographically. As a result, she has been relentlessly attacked for her views by those who believe she’s not on the proper side of the race debate.

But even if she weren’t a conservative, being a pro-life woman who gave up a child to adoption a decade ago should be enough to eliminate her from being a Democrat. The pro-abortion party has had many in its ranks declare there is no room for pro-life people in the Democratic Party. Villa wouldn’t be welcomed even if she denounced President Trump based solely on her adherence to the belief living human beings have rights at all stages.

I admire Villa’s courage and willingness to speak out. On Twitter, she’s a rockstar.

HHS Secretary Alex Azar on court ruling against abortion providers

HHS Secretary Alex Azar on court ruling against abortion providers

“For too long that money has been used to subsidize the provision of abortion contrary to statute. Congress has said that you cannot support abortion as a method of family planning. We’re just finally enforcing it.”

– Alex Azar

There’s a ton of backlash coming from the pro-abortion lobby regarding the ruling by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to allow the administration’s policy regarding Title X and how abortion providers are allowed to operate. The new policy, announced last year, would withdraw federal Title X funding from any medical facility that provides abortions, as well as abortion counseling or abortion referrals.

This is a pro-life administration, and while many will balk at the lack of action that has been synonymous with he Republican Party for years, this move by the administration solidifies its standing as a strong opponent of abortion providers.
