Let me set the stage: Two stories, completely unrelated. The first: Anti-hooker lawmaker allegedly used taxpayer money for sex with escort. In case you’re wondering, yes, it’s a Republican lawmaker who voted for increased penalties for prostitution – but not just a Republican – a conservative, Utah Republican! I know… ugh. But before I could even begin to wallow in the disappointment of his hypocrisy, I scrolled down and read this headline: Calif. Democrat and #MeToo leader accused of groping male staffer. But not just any Democrat – She “was featured in Time magazine’s Person of the Year issue for her role in the anti-sexual harassment ‘#MeToo’ movement”!
I literally laughed out loud! What is this, April Fool’s Day? Someone is messing with me, right? Am I reading on The Onion right now? As a friend of mine always says: Doth protest too much.
This is fantastic! I mean, I know there are third parties involved who were hurt here, and I’m sorry for that, but seriously… There must be a lesson in here. At the end of this Growing Pains episode, Alan Thicke is gonna sit us down on the couch and explain to us what we’ve learned from this, right?
So what’s the lesson? I’m not quite sure, but perhaps it’s… If you really don’t like what you’re railing against, fix it within yourself first. And if you really do like what you’re railing against, then shut up and accept it! Be who you really are.
As crazy as it sounds… If you like hookers, then you like hookers. That’s your thing. I can disagree with it, but that doesn’t change whether deep down, YOU really are ok with it. OR I’m sorry, I cannot support the #Metoo movement (until I fix my own wandering hands). Don’t lie to yourself, because that leads you to lie to others, and in this case, the people who you represent. And that’s way worse than if he had just come out and said, “I think prostitution should be legal”, or if she had said, “I do not support the #MeToo movement”.
Ok. So, what to do now? Throw up our hands and say both sides are corrupt? Yes, we could do that. But we already knew that, didn’t we? Yeah, we did. Maybe the missing piece is that everyone is hypocritical. Even you. Even me. Hypocrisy is usually a sign that you are lying to yourself. Notice it, realize it, accept it, and then do the hard work of aligning what you do with what you really believe.
Covid variant BA.5 is spreading. It appears milder but much more contagious and evades natural immunity. Best to boost your immune system with new Z-Dtox and Z-Stack nutraceuticals from our dear friend, the late Dr. Vladimir Zelenko.
