Why are SPLC and Breitbart advancing leftist rumors about ‘alt-right’ leader Jason Kessler?

Breitbart (that I won’t link here), has a story advancing a rumor put forth by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a leftist money-laundering organization that takes donations from liberals and uses them for its own enrichment.

The SPLC story is on their “extremist info” page for Jason Kessler, the purported “alt-right” bro who organized the Charlottesville gathering of jackbooted jackasses, which was met by Che-worshipping antifa and anarchist cultists.

To give some background on SPLC, some of their “hate groups” include the American Family Association, Family Research Council, pastor Lou Engle, Matt Staver’s Liberty Counsel. and Alliance Defending Freedom. These are all solid, Christian, family-friendly organizations, but to SPLC, they’re hate-spewing extremists on par with Richard Spencer’s neo-Nazis.

These two paragraphs seem to paint Kessler, who is a despicable racist, as even worse than he is.

Rumors abound on white nationalist forums that Kessler’s ideological pedigree before 2016 was less than pure and seem to point to involvement in the Occupy movement and past support for President Obama.

At one recent speech in favor of Charlottesville’s status as a sanctuary city, Kessler live-streamed himself as an attendee questioned him and apologized for an undisclosed spat during Kessler’s apparent involvement with Occupy. Kessler appeared visibly perturbed by the woman’s presence and reminders of their past association.

So, according to these rumors, he’s not only a despicable racist, he’s also an opportunist and political chameleon. He’s the left’s version of Tomi Lahren: a turncoat, a charlatan, who dons whatever political hair coat (or haircut) suits him in the heat of the moment.

This could be true, or it could be a smear. Who knows at this point.

But to me, the story is why would Breitbart, the self-proclaimed “voice of the alt-right,” be interested in quoting the SPLC, it’s vicious enemy, and why would the SPLC include these rumors from unidentified “white nationalist forums?”

Clearly, someone has it in for Mr. Kessler.

Serial entrepreneur. Faith, family, federal republic. One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
