(American Political Report)—Larry Sanger, co-founder of Wikipedia, recently announced his conversion to Christianity after years as a skeptic, a shift detailed in a Christian Post article.
Sanger described his journey as a “re-conversion,” influenced by Christian apologists like Stephen Meyer and William Lane Craig, whose arguments led him to embrace an Orthodox Christian faith.
Sanger, 56, who co-founded Wikipedia in 2001 along with Jimmy Wales in pursuit of a “free and open” internet, detailed his roughly 35-year journey from “skeptical philosopher” to Christianity in a blog post.
The announcement coincides with broader cultural discussions on faith, as public figures increasingly share personal spiritual transformations in 2025.
“I essentially razed all of my beliefs to the ground,” Sanger told Fox News Digital. “That’s what I told myself I was doing… and my belief in God went by the wayside at that time.”
Sanger plans to use his writing to defend Christianity globally, marking a significant pivot from his earlier philosophical skepticism and work in online encyclopedia projects.
