In the wake of his fourth indictment, former President Donald Trump is approaching a 50-point lead over his Republican rivals, outpolling his nearest competitor by more than a five-to-one margin.
In the latest survey from Victory Insights, Trump claimed the support of 61% of likely voters, compared to 12% who backed Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie took 6% support, compared to 4% each for tech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy and former Vice President Mike Pence. Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley took 2%, compared to 1% each for South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott and businessman Perry Johnson.
Conducted Aug. 15-17, the survey questioned 825 likely voters and has a margin of error of +/- 3.5%. Notably, the survey period entirely falls after Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on Monday announced charges against Trump over his efforts to challenge the 2020 presidential election in the Peach State.
