Republican strategist Scott Jennings said on Wednesday that President Donald Trump should have White House senior adviser Elon Musk testify before Congress to “make the case” for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

DOGE, which Trump established by rebranding the United States Digital Service in a Jan. 20 executive order, is conducting layoffs of federal government employees and identified at least $105 billion in savings, an average of $652.17 per taxpayer, according to its website. Jennings told “The Source” host Kaitlan Collins that DOGE was “finding things” that could swing public support in favor of the agency. “I’d just give him one more piece of public relations advice, which is at some point they‘ll have collected enough information and put together enough of a presentation where they could go up to a hearing, have members of Congress ask them questions about it, and really display for the American people the waste, fraud and abuse that they‘re finding and what they might want to do about it,” Jennings told Collins.

“I do think members of Congress should be brought in on this. I think this meeting is a good step,” Jennings continued. “Eventually, a public presentation, I think, would help the president and the whole Republican Party with the project of cutting government.”

DOGE’s actions to eliminate waste and fraud while reducing the size and scope of the federal government have been challenged in court, with a federal judge recently blocking a memo sent to federal agencies instructing them to dismiss thousands of probationary workers.
