These Are the Hospitals Still Giving Child Sex Changes Despite Trump Ban: Report

More than 35 hospitals have been performing child sex change surgeries and/or treatments despite the Executive Order enacted by President Donald Trump in January, which threatens to revoke federal funding for hospitals that provide sex change treatments for individuals under the age of 19.

The aforementioned hospitals, all of which receive federal funding, have been providing gender-dysphoric minor patients with puberty blockers, hormone therapies, and surgeries after the order took effect, according to a report published by the Daily Caller. Additionally, some of the hospitals said they have been providing minors with referrals to other hospitals that still provide these treatments.

The Daily Caller achieved its findings after contacting dozens of hospitals, all of which were listed as transgender health providers by the Trans Health Project.

A receptionist for the University of Minnesota told the Caller that they are still seeing patients “14 years of age and older” for “top surgery,” also known as breast removal. When Boston Medical Center was contacted, the receptionist asserted that “nothing has changed” in light of Trump’s executive order. Similarly, a representative at Bay State Medical Center said, “I haven’t heard anything different” and urged that parents hoping to make appointments for their children should call in the early morning hours due to a high volume of new patients.

Children’s Hospital Colorado told the publication that its medical center would still be offering sex change treatments for minors until a lawsuit challenging the executive order is resolved. In February, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, and Minnesota filed a joint lawsuit arguing against the order. A federal judge in Seattle issued a preliminary injunction on February 28, ordering the Trump administration to continue providing federal funding to hospitals that provide child sex changes while the case makes it through the higher Courts.
