A teacher’s assistant in a Texas high school died over the weekend after suffering head injuries during what the school called an “interaction” with a student. Alfred Jimenez, called Mr. Fred, died in the hospital after succumbing to his injuries. He was 73 years old and had worked with students who had learning and emotional disabilities at Brandeis High School since 2014.
The February 7 incident in which Jimenez suffered a head injury during the interaction is being investigated by Northside ISD police.
Jimenez worked with students who had moderate to severe cognitive disabilities, My San Antonio reports. He was “attempting to redirect a student” when the injury occurred. He was immediately transported to the hospital.
