A Texas elections office was raided by the authorities with the Texas Attorney General investigating an alleged ballot harvesting operation reportedly designed to benefit a Democratic judge who has held his position since 2014.
180 mail ballots were reportedly seized during a Friday from the premises of an elections office in Starr County, Texas, a border county outside of McAllen.
An effort from activist group #ProjectRedTX reportedly led to the raid last week. That group filed a complaint last year claiming that Modesta Vela was captured on video harvesting a ballot, claiming she was working on behalf of Starr County Judge Eloy Vera, a Democrat. The controversial practice of ballot harvesting remains illegal in Texas.
