There are growing concerns that some Establishment Republicans, who represent moderate congressional districts, could punish conservatives by giving Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries enough votes to become House Speaker.
“There are House Republicans working toward a consensus Speaker w the Democrats,” said CPAC’s Matt Schlapp. “This is insane. Many Republicans also hiding behind the anonymous ballot. It’s time for transparency and honesty. If the vote is public Jordan gets the votes needed.”
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, won his party’s nomination to be Speaker, but will not have enough votes to win the overall vote. Jordan won 124 votes to Rep. Austin Scott’s 81.
