Following a Louisiana law placing the Ten Commandments in every public school classroom and a Tennessee Resolution calling on citizens to fast and pray for our nation throughout July, the Oklahoma Superintendent of schools stated that public school teachers must provide lessons from the Bible.
Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters made his comments at the June 27 meeting of the State Board of Education. Walters stated that teaching the Bible is about history, taking the same line of reasoning that Louisiana legislators took when requiring the Ten Commandments to be placed in every classroom.
“The Bible is a necessary historical document to teach our kids about the history of this country, to have a complete understanding of Western civilization, to have an understanding of the basis of our legal system,” Walters remarked.
Walters posted to social media that “Oklahoma kids will learn that the Bible and the Ten Commandments are foundational for Western civilization. The left is upset, but one cannot rewrite history.” […]
