The new Democrat-controlled school board of a Philadelphia-area district recently overturned a months-old birth-sex school bathroom policy , citing the “marginalization” of transgender and non-binary students.
The board (pictured) also claimed that before last October, the district had the same policy — students were allowed to use bathrooms “matching their gender identities” — and it allegedly was “largely without any apparent controversy,” The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The vote to overturn the birth-sex restroom policy was six in favor, three against.Board member Tammy Campli, who voted in favor, said the decision “didn’t mean boys were allowed to go in girls’ bathrooms.”“Teachers and staff know which students ‘consistently assert themselves’ as boys or girls,” Campli said. “Trans men are men.
