It is a disheartening time for the women of Maryland following Governor Moore’s announcement that poor women and families will now be offered abortion services, but not the necessary resources to support birthing and parenting their children.
On Monday, February 12, 2024 Governor Moore disclosed an additional $5 million to the Maryland Medicaid Family Planning and Reproductive Health Program. This initiative, originally designed to enhance access to contraceptive family planning while excluding abortion services, is now solely aimed at increasing funding for Maryland abortion clinics. Furthermore, the governor has tripled taxpayer funds allocated for training abortionists, awarding the University of Maryland, Baltimore, a $10.6 million grant established in response to the Abortion Care Access Act of 2022.
