On Monday, December 11, a man was arrested in the 17th arrondissement of Paris shortly before 9 PM after allegedly confronting a woman on the corner of Boulevard Pereire and Avenue des Ternes. Reportedly wielding a kitchen knife approximately 40 centimeters long, the man is said to have shouted the Islamic battle cry , “Allah Akbar,” and inquired if the woman was Jewish. According to the woman’s statement, she believed that had she affirmed being Jewish, the man would have violently stabbed her in the abdomen.
The knife believed to be used in the incident was later discovered in a trash can by police.
