An investigation undertaken by the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project has revealed that there was a rather large discrepancy in the time the Federal Bureau of Investigation ‘s Washington, DC Field Office spent working in the days following the January 6 riot compared to the Black Lives Matter riots that ravaged the city months earlier in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
Data showed that the FBI in DC spent nearly 16,000 more hours on the clock following the attack on the nation’s Capitol than it did in the aftermath of the “firey but mostly peaceful” BLM riots. According to the Oversight Project, FBI payroll records revealed that agents in Washington, DC Field Office worked 86,262 hours between January 4 and 17, 2021. Between May 25 and June 7, 2020, however, they worked just 70,367.25 hours.
