Police responded to an active shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, on Wednesday morning where at least four people were killed and 30 others were injured, law enforcement sources told CNN.
One suspect is in custody and the conditions of those wounded remain unclear, CNN reported. The suspect is a 14-year-old male, law enforcement officials said. Two teachers and two students were killed by the gunman.
“At approximately 10:23 a.m. officers from multiple law enforcement agencies and Fire/EMS personnel were dispatched to the high school in reference to a reported active shooting,” the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
During a press conference outside the school, Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith told reporters, “We do have a suspect in custody and we’re asking for your patience … let us get the facts that we need to make sure that we get this right.”
