Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff / Flickr While on vacation with the rest of the Biden family off the South Carolina coast, First Lady Jill Biden announced on Tuesday that she has tested positive for COVID-19 despite being “fully vaccinated” and “twice boosted” against the virus.
“After testing negative for COVID-19 on Monday during her regular testing cadence, the First Lady began to develop cold-like symptoms late in the evening. She tested negative again on a rapid antigen test, but a PCR test came back positive,” a statement from the First Lady’s office reads.
The statement noted that Biden is only dealing with slight cold symptoms, will be taking Pfizer’s new drug Paxlovid, and will be in isolation for the next five days.
“The First Lady is double vaccinated, twice boosted, and only experiencing mild symptoms. She has been prescribed a course of Paxlovid and, following CDC guidance, will isolate from others for at least five days,” the statement continues.
