Charlotte, NC — In a statement on Friday, the FDA said that the benefits of the COVID vaccine from Pfizer “likely” outweigh the risks to children. This comes as the FDA progresses the vaccine toward approval in kids age 5-11.
According to a staff report that was released, the vaccine’s protection against COVID are believed to outweigh the risks of the significant heart side effects that have been reported in some that took the shot.
Bloomberg News reports that only 34% of Americans were likely to vaccinate their kids once the shot was approved. So the outlet immediately went into sharing the benefits of the vaccine. Pfizer reports they have seen a 90% efficacy in the vaccine in their trials, while the FDA reports a potential 80% likelihood of benefits to children.
