Update: President Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, referenced the report on Fox News last night.
Original Story: Ever since a whistleblower accused President Trump of inappropriately pressuring Ukraine to reopen their investigation into Burisma Holdings, Joe Biden’s son Hunter has been at the center of the controversy. Democrats have claimed the President leveraged aid in a quid pro quo exchange for dirt on his political opponent, while Republicans have said there was no quid pro quo. Moreover, many Republicans have called for investigations on both continents about the former Vice President’s own quid pro quo of a billion-dollar loan guarantee in exchange for the firing of former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin.
It has been assumed that Biden was trying to protect his son, but a bombshell accusation by a current member of the Ukrainian government puts the corruption squarely in Biden’s own lap. According to Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada (parliament) member Andriy Derkach, the elder Biden received $900,000 through a holding company associated with his son. The company, Rosemont Seneca, disclosed they received multiple transfers from Burisma while Joe Biden was still Vice President. It was assumed that these payments were in addition to Hunter Biden’s board member salary, but the Ukrainian MP claims the payments were meant for his father.
“This was the transfer of Burisma Group’s funds for lobbying activities, as investigators believe, personally to Joe Biden through a lobbying company. Funds in the amount of $900,000 were transferred to the U.S.-based company Rosemont Seneca Partners, which according to open sources, in particular, the New York Times, is affiliated with Biden. The payment reference was payment for consultative services,” Derkach said at a press conference.
The accusation, reported by Ukrainian press agency Interfax, are the first indicator that Vice President Biden was acting to protect himself, not just his son, from the active corruption investigation into Burisma that was being conducted by Shokin. This is why Biden was so adamant about having him fired. The White House’s story was that Shokin wasn’t doing a good job at prosecuting corruption cases, which is why Biden pressured Ukraine to get rid of him. But history and common sense tell us that the White House does not send the Vice President around to other nations telling them to get rid of a prosecutor who isn’t being very efficient. Nevertheless, that was the story mainstream media has run with ever since.
We will see how much reporting these new allegations garner from progressive outlets in the United States.
“According to the documents, Burisma paid no less than $16.5 million to [former Polish President, who became an independent director at Burisma Holdings in 2014] Aleksander Kwasniewski, [chairman of the Burisma board of independent directors] Alan Apter, [Burisma independent director] Devon Archer and Hunter Biden [who joined the Burisma board of directors in 2014],” Derkach continued.
Everyone on this list are people who could help Burisma gain traction and wield influence on the international stage, including the former White House connection with Hunter Biden. According to Derkach, that’s why the former Vice President pressed so hard. And it wasn’t the first time the Vice President used his clout to protect Burisma.
“Using political and economic levelers of influencing Ukrainian authorities and manipulating the issue of providing financial aid to Ukraine, Joe Biden actively assisted closing criminal cases into the activity of former Ukrainian Ecology Minister Mykola Zlochevsky, who is the founder and owner of Burisma Group,” he said.
The timeline of events proves that the U.S. linked the Zlochevsky case to loan guarantees, according to Derkach. The evidence may be circumstantial, but it’s compelling nonetheless. Otherwise, it’s an insane coincidence that all of these things happened at the times they did.
“Biden’s fifth visit to Kyiv on December 7-8, 2015 was devoted to making a decision on the resignation of [then Ukrainian Prosecutor General] Viktor Shokin over the case of Zlochevsky and Burisma. Loan guarantees worth $1 billion that the United States was to give to Ukraine was the point of pressure. Biden himself admitted exerting pressure in his speech at the Council of Foreign Relations in January 2018, calling Shokin ‘son of a bitch who was fired’,” Derkach said.
President Trump and many Republican lawmakers have called for investigations into the shady dealings of not just the Bidens but other Democrats who were cozy with the previous Ukrainian government. It isn’t just about corruption. Many believe Ukraine was the source of many conspiracies associated with the 2016 presidential elections and participated in prompting the Russia investigation which wasted over two years of the President’s first term on a hoax.
This new bombshell is certain to catch the President’s ear, though American mainstream media will try to bury the story.
The entire impeachment narrative is predicated on the notion that Joe Biden did nothing wrong. Now that Ukrainian officials are blowing the whistle on both Bidens, Democrats must end impeachment talk once and for all.
