The standard reply from Republicans when considering whether to support Congressman Ralph Abraham or businessman Eddie Rispone for Louisiana governor is, “Yes.” Most don’t care who gets second place in the upcoming election as long as Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards doesn’t hit the magic 50% mark. As long as there’s no candidate with a majority, the top two will go to battle in a runoff election in November.
Even the President chimed in saying “yes” to both candidates.
….a Nancy Pelosi/Chuck Schumer Democrat (John Bel Edwards), who does nothing but stymie all of the things we are doing to Make America Great Again. Don’t be fooled, John Bel Edwards will NEVER be for us. Early voting has already started! @LAGOP

The two Republicans are close, but Abraham has a slight lead over Rispone in most polls. But Rispone’s upside is much higher, which is one reason Republicans should support him. As a businessman who can carry the outsider mantle, Rispone has a down-to-earth appeal that will resonate better with Independent voters in the runoff. His plans for the state are ambitious and reminiscent of the President’s “Drain the Swamp” mantra from the 2016 election.
Rispone wants to scrap the state constitution and simplify it in a way that will ease taxes across the board. He’s proposing a flat tax that is fair, low, and predictable, rather than the progressive tax the state currently uses.
As for Abraham, he is currently ranked 79th among House Republicans with a dismal 61% Liberty Score. He often votes for bigger government, higher spending, and is a big fan of subsidies. His voting record combined with knowledge of Rispone’s policy proposals have prompted us to throw our support behind the guy who can turn Louisiana around for the better.
For Louisiana’s future, no gubernatorial candidate has a better plan than Eddie Rispone. He’s closest to the mold President Trump established and has the conservative ideology the state needs to reverse its downward economic trend.
