This is a serious question for which I have no valid answer. It’s something I never understood, especially when I hear about “compassion” and “human rights” and other excuses that would seem to support a pro-life stance instead of a pro-choice one. Then, there’s the “women’s rights” excuse, which again doesn’t make sense coming from a Christian since females who are murdered in the womb have rights granted to them by God.
I can sort of understand moral exceptions such as rape, incest, and when the life of the mother is in jeopardy, and while I don’t support these exceptions, I’m also not eager to condemn Christians who do. I’d rather talk to them and kindly try to speak up for the life of the innocent child who shouldn’t carry the weight of the sins of the father even before they’re out of the womb.
But there’s one thing I absolutely cannot understand. Christians who support Democrats support the killing of preborn babies at all stages of development, including those that are born alive after failed abortions but are still left to die. The Democratic Party is no longer friendly to anyone who is pro-life. They are nearly done purging all pro-life Democrats from Capitol Hill, governors’ offices, and city halls around the country. Now, the leaders of the party have adopted a platform that legalizes abortion-on-demand supplied to anyone for any reason at any time… including just after birth.
One might argue that the Democrat they support doesn’t believe in such radical progressive ideas, but there’s a problem with that. Even Democrats who are more compassionate about preborn children will still help the radicals in their votes while also helping their caucus acquire or retain power. The Democrats have become a reliable pro-abortion party and anyone in their party who challenges this orthodoxy must still vote for it or risk their political future.
Former Vice President Joe Biden comes to mind as an example of their hypocrisy. While in the White House, he acted like someone beholden to two groups – his party and the Catholic Church. To diffuse the disparity in views on abortion from his two favorite entities, he used to say he personally was against abortion but would’t let his personal feelings guide his politics. This is, of course, an asinine statement because personal feelings are impossible to separate from political decisions.
Today, he has changed his tune on abortion, matching those on his left by pushing the same agenda and using the same tone as the radicals in his party. Why? Because it behooves him to be as radical as he can be without losing his status as the moderate in the race.
The kinetic status of the Democratic Party offers no reason to support any of them. Yet, there are still plenty of self-proclaimed Christians who are pro-abortion in the way they vote.
If you don’t like President Trump or the Republicans, I’m not going to try to change your mind on them. But I must attempt to dissuade you from voting for Democrats. Christians who do so are aiding in the death of the preborn.
The Democratic Party has rapidly morphed from a party that leans towards pro-choice into a party that embraces the practice and even wants more of them. This is the biggest reason I can’t imagine voting for a Democrat ever again.
