If someone who knew absolutely nothing about American politics took a quick glance at Democratic presidential nomination polling numbers, they would probably conclude this was the part of old white people. After all, around two-thirds of Democrats polled support a Caucasian – Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, or Elizabeth Warren – who is at least 70-years-old.
The party that elected Barack Obama has minorities like Cory Booker, Julian Castro, Kamala Harris, Tulsi Gabbard, Wayne Messam, and Andrew Yang polling lower in their combined tallies than any of the three frontrunners. What happened? Where’s the intersectionality? Sure, Warren is a woman, but Democrats have already tried and failed to elect a female President. What is it about the minority candidates that makes them so unappealing?
This isn’t new. All three “major” candidates in 2016 for the Democrats were Caucasian.
Aren’t Democrats supposed to favor younger people of color? Isn’t this the party that forced out Caucasians from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for the sake of diversity? What happened to being “woke”?
There’s going to come a time as the nomination race becomes more heated when minorities are going to scratch their head and wonder how in the world their party became so old and white. They thought President Obama’s victories changed things, but that no longer seems to apply in the minds of the radical progressives who run the show. They’re already working to dismiss Obama’s presidency.
Here’s the sad truth: As the Democratic Party pushes to denounce the President as racist, the real racism is seen every day within their own ranks. But they don’t see it. They won’t admit it. To them, their racism is totally acceptable.
