The Chris “Fredo” Cuomo story may be a silly distraction for news outlets, but the Trump campaign is cashing in nicely on the CNN host’s meltdown. Shirts were put on sale following the incident yesterday and according to Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale, they’re selling like crazy.
For $34.
But apparently, it’s worth it.
Get your commemorative #FredoCuomo Unhinged shirt today! We only have a limited supply of the shirt, which was inspired by the epic & historic viral video of @CNN's @ChrisCuomo meltdown!https://t.co/Iv8jqnIDIk

Selling faster than Fredo's meltdown! Thank you #FredoCuomo for filling up our coffers. You have now directly supported the POTUS! https://t.co/UP0vhijJJB

President Trump is doing his part to keep Cuomo in the news by tweeting or retweeting about the incident nine times in the last few hours.
It always happens! When a Conservative does even a fraction of what Chris Cuomo did with his lunatic ranting, raving, & cursing, they get destroyed by the Fake News. But when a Liberal Democrat like Chris Cuomo does it, Republicans immediately come to his defense. We never learn!

I assume @cnn not available for comment. Imagine their coverage of this if they were a real news organization? https://t.co/uH2biAkKUZ

“Who am I then, Fredo?” Cuomo asked during a 2010 radio interview when his brother was considering running for governor. #FakeNewsFredo strikes again!https://t.co/wYrksxYkP8

Remember when Anna Navarro referred to Don Jr. as Fredo while filing her nails on the @ChrisCuomo show. I don't remember him calling her out for using that word. Now he's all upset because someone used the word on him. #Hypocrite Boo Hoo, Cry me a river! https://t.co/LK5eNrlCgf

Would Chris Cuomo be given a Red Flag for his recent rant? Filthy language and a total loss of control. He shouldn’t be allowed to have any weapon. He’s nuts!

I thought Chris was Fredo also. The truth hurts. Totally lost it! Low ratings @CNN https://t.co/yBpGjt4N1T

The Trump campaign has proven to be adept at merchandising their campaign properly. They did well in 2016, particularly with MAGA hats, but they’ve stepped up their fundraising efforts for the 2020 election with masterful plays on the news cycle like this one. It’s a triple-threat as well; not only does it raise money, but it promotes a meme worthy of sharing and extends the base with a message for people to join the contact list by texting “FREDO” to 88022.
One of the reasons President Trump is going to win reelection is because his campaign team is agile and decisive. They recognized a viral meme and took advantage of it masterfully. Will Chris Cuomo report his in-kind donation to the Trump campaign?
