Why Elon Musk’s NeuraLink really should scare you

Artificial Intelligence is a concern to many of the smartest scientists, cleverest engineers, and influential futurists. Stephen Hawking, Bill Gates, and Michio Kaku have all warned about the dangers of allowing an essentially infinite “mind” have access to anything of substance in the lives of humans.

Elon Musk has been one of the most outspoken warning beacons regarding artificial intelligence. He once said true AI will be so far beyond us, we would be like pets to it. Oddly enough, it seemed for a moment that he was heading towards a Biblical reference about the difference between God’s ways and man’s ways.

His solution to the coming AI problem, as well as a plethora of other risks he perceives, is NeuraLink. By connecting electrodes directly to the brain with read/write access. NeuraLink will solve the AI problem by allowing people’s minds to, in essence, merge with AI. Seriously.

There are already a slew of conspiracy theories surrounding Musk’s grand project. Even as he joked about how NeuraLink wouldn’t be instantly taking over men’s minds because… that will take some time… he betrayed a reality he has to know is present: The risk of computers truly influencing the decisions of humans in ways that are detrimental to society.

I can go into my own theories at a future date. In the meantime, here is the take from the duo at Truthstream Media as they cross over being laughter and dread at the possibilities NeuraLink places on the dystopian table.
