President Trump has been getting attacked by every Democratic contender following two mass shootings over the weekend. He’s even getting attacked by one of the frontrunners, Senator Elizabeth Warren, despite the alleged Dayton shooter being an avid fan of hers.
But it was a non-contender, Beto O’Rourke, who got under the President’s skin enough to warrant a direct response. It’s his old Congressional district that the President will be visiting, so the failed Senate candidate from 2018 and failing presidential candidate today thought it wise to attack President Trump now since so much focus is being directed towards him.
The President wasn’t having it. In a late-night Tweet on Tuesday, the President went after O’Rourke, saying, “Beto (phony name to indicate Hispanic heritage) O’Rourke, who is embarrassed by my last visit to the Great State of Texas, where I trounced him, and is now even more embarrassed by polling at 1% in the Democrat Primary, should respect the victims & law enforcement – & be quiet!”

The reference to when he “trounced” him was supposed to be competing rallies at the border two months ago, but O’Rourke’s “rally,” if you can call it that, failed to get 1/100th of the attendance the President’s rally received. As for polling, O’Rourke was one of two candidates in the middle tier to hit the 2% mark in the most recent Quinnipiac poll, tying Cory Booker for 6th.
Even as O’Rourke’s campaign continues to under-perform miserably, he’s still in the news because it was his hometown in which one of the mass shootings took place. But it doesn’t seem to be helping him and the President pointed out the truth.
