There’s a strong delusion over many Democrats, particularly long-time lawmakers who have lost touch (or perhaps were never in touch) with the common American. This delusion is fueled by progressive legacy media and the echo chambers of social media. It’s the same delusion that made it seem impossible to them in 2016 that Donald Trump would be elected President.
The delusion is this: They believe being a Trump supporter is anathema to the general public and simply outing someone for their support will get them banished from society forever.
Congressman Joaquin Castro (D-TX) attempted to “out” maximum donors to President Trump’s reelection campaign and label them as “fueling a campaign of hate.”
Sad to see so many San Antonians as 2019 maximum donors to Donald Trump — the owner of @BillMillerBarBQ, owner of the @HistoricPearl, realtor Phyllis Browning, etc.
Their contributions are fueling a campaign of hate that labels Hispanic immigrants as ‘invaders.’ pic.twitter.com/YT85IBF19u

Let’s break this down into three points. First, there is no shame in contributing to any political campaign. If someone wants to give their money to support someone who believes as they do, then the system is working properly. It’s part of our participatory form of government within this constitutional republic that empowers the people in ways other countries can only envy.
Second, even if there was a reason to be critical of how someone donates the political dollars they’ve allocated, doing so to the sitting President of the United States under whom the economy, American prosperity, freedoms, and foreign relationships have flourished wouldn’t be something anyone would fear wearing. It’s a badge of honor.
Third, Joaquin Castro is an idiot. Sorry, but it needed to be said. Of all the Democrats who can be voted out of office, he’s one who should rise to the top of the list.
This is why President Trump will get reelected. Many Democrats have no idea how the people think, why this Tweet is wrong, and how they’ll respond in the 2020 election.
Conservative Twitter had a field day:
If @realDonaldTrump targeted small business owners who backed Democratic candidates, the media would go insane. https://t.co/xf4HR1s3NC

This is only one of the reasons Americans should be able to fund political causes in the dark. Americans shouldn't have to deal with ugly public attacks on their businesses and families (or worse) because of their beliefs. https://t.co/SgRTMGN3hK

Conservatives label #Illegal "immigrants" as invaders because they're ignoring our sovereignty and our laws by breaching our borders instead of going through proper legal channels. Your attempt to shame Trump supporters would be laughable if it weren't so sad. https://t.co/NvFPvYwJq1

I see the Democrat party is doxing homemakers and retirees now https://t.co/VvFPDrI4D2

.@Castro4Congress is trying to get people, including numerous retirees, hurt. https://t.co/T8SPjRIrVv

They don't see you as human.
They don't see you as a person.
They see you a pawn in their game.
They are sociopaths. https://t.co/ZubO1BYEl3

After the Dayton Ohio shooting by ANTIFA, this can be understood as having only one intent
– To incite mass terrorism against Trump supporters.https://t.co/bulhNWZa8G https://t.co/HEie5AH4Vn

Democrats: "Republicans are hateful bigots whose rhetoric incites violence!"
Also Democrats: https://t.co/Mphhp6YbTw
— Steven Crowder (@scrowder) August 6, 2019
This is disgusting. Inciting violence against private citizens for participating in our Democracy is beyond the pale. Your rabid hatred of @realDonaldTrump has made you deranged. https://t.co/vwj9a6EDiT
— NRCC (@NRCC) August 6, 2019
In the wake of a horrific mass shooting, a member of Congress named the retirees in San Antonio who gave maximum political contributions to Trump. This seems like a dangerous escalation to me. https://t.co/X6Hr5izeul

What the fuck is this? https://t.co/QBFpKXjmrk
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) August 6, 2019
So, you're going to shame these people into not giving money to Trump? You do realize this will completely backfire. https://t.co/dy2TqFdyNZ

What are you trying to accomplish here, Rep. Castro? https://t.co/wVMZpNPOb2
— Kathryn Watson (@kathrynw5) August 6, 2019
We were reminded just a few hours ago of how the left demagogued Sarah Palin for her “crosshairs” map a few months before Gabby Giffords was shot, and yet this asshole is publishing donor names knowing they’ll be harassed? https://t.co/zhHlwFl87b
— Allahpundit (@allahpundit) August 6, 2019
This is designed to scare people away from their right of speech or expression and chill private donations with by suggested threat of doxxing. It’s shameful and dangerous. https://t.co/9Fj9oEMCmx
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) August 6, 2019
This dangerous intimidation of @RealDonaldTrump supporters is another reason to allow political contributions to be kept confidential. https://t.co/W31chv0S0E

Well done, Congressman, these retirees and homemakers will have to think twice next time before they leave the safety of their homes to vote against you. https://t.co/nzggRpgzgD
— David Freddoso (@freddoso) August 6, 2019
Hey @TwitterSupport would you consider this targeted harassment or nah? https://t.co/2OOjFdsWBh
— DaveinTexas (@DaveinTexas) August 6, 2019
Unbelievable.
This is dangerous and unethical.
A member of Congress is trying to send a mob after private individuals to punish them for their political speech. This will not end well. https://t.co/LYtZhDPqR7
— (((AG))) (@AGHamilton29) August 6, 2019
So this is the place we're in… a Congressman is going after private citizens for participating in the democratic system. https://t.co/ILh1dUpXda
— Ryan James Girdusky (@RyanGirdusky) August 6, 2019
This is targeting private citizens and it is not okay. https://t.co/sljWkvoKLD
— Mickey White (@BiasedGirl) August 6, 2019
This is why political donations should no longer be made public. The left is weaponizing transparency to ensure donors to their political opponents are harassed, boycotted, or worse. https://t.co/xf4HR1s3NC
— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) August 6, 2019
Is this really the type of representation my friends in TX want? Somehow I don't think so. Vote D and you support socialism and Gestapo tactics. https://t.co/J6rYdrOnYE

Bill Miller BBQ is great, by the way. https://t.co/CMnmwI8oyx
— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) August 6, 2019
Not surprised a Castro would go after political dissidents like this… https://t.co/dy2TqFdyNZ
— Siraj Hashmi (@SirajAHashmi) August 6, 2019
Wow, this is such a cowardly move. You want them to be harassed, boycotted, or worse. You sir, are a coward. https://t.co/ZGTinxSn6U
— Jason Howerton (@jason_howerton) August 6, 2019
Targeting and harassing Americans because of their political beliefs is shameful and dangerous. What happened to “when they go low, we go high?” Or does that no longer matter when your brother is polling at 1%? Americans deserve better. https://t.co/PiFcifpxc1
— Kevin McCarthy (@kevinomccarthy) August 6, 2019
The Democratic playbook in a nutshell: (1) Intimidate and shame all conservatives. (2) Establish victimhood for all progressives. (3) Rinse. (4) Repeat. To call Joaquin Castro a joke would be an insult to real comedy.
