Former Wyoming Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis is running for Senate. Her successor in the House of Representatives, Liz Cheney, is also considering a run for the Senate. I like Cheney. She’s been a strong voice for Republicanism in the House and has served Wyoming well. But her allegiance is to Republicanism, not conservatism. She is a moderate at best, landing on Conservative Review’s list of the Top 25 RINOs on Capitol Hill.
Lummis, by contrast, was a member of the House Freedom Caucus. She fought alongside over conservatives and Liberty-minded Republicans for eight years before feeling her time to move along had come. But her break was short-lived. The call to continue bringing the fight to Democrats and moderate Republicans was too strong. Now, she’s back in for the American people.
Cheney fights in different ways. One of the reasons I like her so much is because she’s outspoken against Democrats who disrespect our nation and anyone who attempts to circumvent our laws. Her dedication to the Constitution is evident and she should continue to be a strong voice in the House of Representatives. But Lummis should now fill the void being left by Senator Mike Enzi when he retires at the end of this term.
She recently received a shining endorsement from another patriot, Senator Rand Paul.
“A lot of Republicans claim they want to uphold the Constitution and defend the 2nd Amendment – but in reality, they don’t have a basic understanding of its purpose,” Paul said in an email. “I could really use a partner in the Senate who would take the fight to the Senate floor with me to defend the protections the Constitution affords us – and I can’t think of a better partner than Cynthia Lummis.”
Having Cheney continue to lead in the House and adding Lummis to the Senate is the ideal scenario for Wyoming and the United States. Cheney’s star is rising. Lummis’s star is about to shine on Capitol Hill in the Senate.
