When all you have is a hammer, every problem becomes a nail. When all you have is the race card, every criticism becomes racist. That’s the state of American politics from the progressive side of the ball. They have nothing of substance with which to attack the President, so anything he does is being portrayed by Democrats and legacy media as racist.
The Presidents Tweet attack on Representative Elijah Cummings and his Baltimore district has sparked controversy across the board on the left with journalists tearing up, celebrities making threats, and Democrats calling his comments racist. But these same people were silent when Senator Bernie Sanders delivered much harsher condemnation of the city in 2015 when he was making his first run for President. Was he called racist? No.
Progressives have been avoiding the comparison while conservatives have been saying Sanders’s comments were more racist than the President’s. Many are saying it’s okay to be racist if you’re a Democrat, which is why Sanders didn’t get anywhere near the backlash from his harsh comments than the President has received for his milder variations of criticism.
But there’s a much more simple answer to why Sanders wasn’t called out for racism. It’s because his condemnation wasn’t racist. And neither was the President’s.
If anything, the most racist viewpoint is the one embraced by around 1/3rd of Democrats, that any criticism against minority lawmakers should be considered racist. Even if the criticism had nothing to do with race and could just as easily have been leveled against a Caucasian lawmaker, 33% of Democrats believe it’s racist to even call out minorities on substantive issues. This is victimizing minorities. This is racism.
As a minority, I must repeatedly tell Democrats I do not need them to protect me. When I face real racism, I can handle it. I don’t need their pandering and I won’t play their victim card. If the situation becomes volatile over racism, I can call the police or handle it myself. This is America. We all have equal rights. I do not need better rights just because I’m not Caucasian, but that’s what Democrats want.
It isn’t just the Democrats. The media is complicit. One headline from CNN is a perfect example of the signal jamming taking place in America today.
This is called “begging the question.” It’s a logical fallacy in which a false premise is presented as fact in order to manipulate the conclusion. It’s a propaganda technique often employed by legacy media today, and it’s abysmal.
Every crocodile tear shed over faux-racism is an affront on the real racism that exists in America today. Democrats and the media belittle true victims of racism by constantly playing the race card where racism wasn’t present.
