One America News videos of New York City police officers getting doused with water by the leftist, disrespectful people they protect is a sign of the times, a sign that the radical progressive mentalities have seeped into the thought processes of people who once understood the importance of law and order. Mayor Bill de Blasio is a joke. He’s so bad, he might even win the primary in New York just so they can get rid of him.
As OAN puts it, everyone knows who runs that town:
This is Bill de Blasio’s New York City. In this viral video taken over the weekend in Harlem, two officers are harassed by a crowd as they try to make an arrest. In the video you can see water being dumped on them and empty buckets being thrown at their heads. But this isn’t an isolated incident. And some warn it could be part of a larger trend.
A separate video taken on Saturday in Brooklyn showed two other officers attacked while responding to a call. In each of the videos, bystanders can be heard laughing and online many social media users argue the cops got what they deserved. And with a mayor like Bill de Blasio, it’s easy to see why this culture of disrespect for uniforms officers exists.
The Democrat has a history of making remarks that perpetuate the narrative of a racist police force out to target minority members of their community. Following the death of Eric Garner in 2014 de Blasio had this to say about his multiracial son, “We’ve had to literally train him as families have all over this city for decades on how to take special care in encounter he has with the police officers who are there to protect him.”
His inflammatory comments came at a time when Black Lives Matter activists were taking to the streets nationwide calling for the deaths of cops. Less than two years later this very threat played out in Dallas, Texas, in which a sniper shot 12 officers, five of them fatally. The police chief said the suspect told authorities he specifically wanted to kill white officers because he was upset about the reported shootings of black men by cops.
de Blasio’s handling of these situations earned him two instances in which rank and file police officers turned their backs on him in solidarity at funerals held for their slain colleagues. Then in 2016 a police union survey asked six thousand cops about their feelings on de Blasio. 96% had an unfavorable view of the Democrat mayor, saying they felt de Blasio emboldened criminals and created a hostile work environment for police. And most recently he was called out by the Sergeant’s Benevolent Association, which represents about 13,000 active and retired NYPD sergeants. Following last month’s Democrat primary debate, the Association accused de Blasio of bashing cops onstage and of using the city’s police force for his own gain.
This sentiment is shared by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani who believes the disrespect for uniformed officers will only get worse until the city’s Democrat leaders are voted out of office.
Running New York City is hard enough when the police respect you. Trying to be mayor and having a police force that believes you throw them under the bus every chance you get is why Bill de Blasio is a political train wreck.
