In every other sovereign country on the planet, aiding foreign nationals to evade the law will result in some sort of punishment ranging from short jail times and/or fines all the way to long-term imprisonment or death. By no means would I ever suggest America should follow the lead of other countries, especially when it comes to freedoms and laws, but in this particular instance I have to side with the rest of the world.
It is insane, counterproductive, and dangerous to aid illegal immigrants with removal orders in evading law enforcement. In fact, it’s criminal… at least it would be if we enforced our laws the way we should. Instead, presidential candidates like Cory Booker are helping illegal immigrants reach their destination. Congressional staff members are coaching illegal immigrants on how to reenter the country by lying. Even Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is getting in on the action.
Anyone, politician or not, who helps illegal immigrants with removal orders should be arrested and charged if appropriate. There’s a clear difference between wanting to help illegal immigrants from a humanitarian perspective and helping them evade the law.
Keep in mind, the upcoming ICE raids are not targeting illegal immigrants in general. Their focus is going to be on criminal illegal aliens, many of whom pose a threat to American citizens. By helping criminal illegal aliens stay on the streets, these “compassionate” Democrats are helping people like these put American citizens’ lives at risk.
Whether the aiding forces are politicians or not shouldn’t matter. The law is the law, and helping a criminal illegal alien evade capture is a crime. But they’re allowed to do it because the press doesn’t hold them accountable and politicians are reluctant to act against their fellow representatives. So the problem persists.
It’s tough enough being a good ICE agent under most circumstances. When American citizens and politicians work to hamstring ICE and empower criminal illegal immigrants, they are breaking the law. This is unambiguous. At least it should be.
